Quebec Budget: $500 cheque to help taxpayers.

I was not surprised by this measure because it has been a secret for a long time.

What surprised me was that the amount paid out was for 94.1% of Quebec taxpayers (6.4 million out of 6.8 million). Isn't that huge?

This corresponds to people with an income of $100,000 or less. This measure will cost the state $3.2 billion. During this time people have become poorer by an average of $3000, the $500 does not make up for the shortfall. But I think the Legault government wanted and needed to do something (inflation, gas price increases etc) especially in this election year.

What do you do with your investments during a period of instability? What is happening in Ukraine is upsetting, families separated, deaths, bombings, injuries, lack of supplies, etc. Many people are worried about the repercussions of this conflict, the stock markets etc etc.

Last week, I was listening to Paul Arcand's morning show and he was interviewing Louis Vachon (former president and CEO of the National Bank), an extremely brilliant and very competent man. Here is what he said about the situation in Ukraine:

You must not panic because that would be your worst mistake. I would add one more point: Contact your representative so that you can better understand the issues and make the best possible decisions.
